Attorney Bio

Christi M. Gelo is the principal attorney of the firm. She graduated from Hofstra Law School in 2007, and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from St. John’s University in 2004. She began her career working as an associate attorney in a well known law firm, concentrating in immigration. In 2008, she established her solo practice, with the intent of providing honest, zealous representation to a diverse client base. Having seen the harm caused by dishonest attorneys taking advantage of vulnerable clients, Christi is committed to changing the paradigm of legal representation. She believes that the attorney-client representation should be based on openness, honesty, and trust. A client should not be intimidated by their attorney or the legal process. This is the foundation open which Christi has built her practice.

Christi is a founding director of the Queens Coalition for Social Justice, a non-profit that provides pro-bono representation to vulnerable populations, especially immigrant communities. Christi is an adjunct professor at Queens College, where she teaches Legal Writing, Immigration, and Bankruptcy law. Christi dedicates a significant portion of her practice to protecting the rights of the LGBTQIA community and victims of domestic violence.

Christi lives in Queens with her husband, three kids, and many pets. She enjoys cooking, hosting parties, gardening, coaching Little League baseball, and spending time with family and friends.
